Hi, my name is Luis, and 4 months ago, after years of injuries, chronic pain, and trying gyms that promised but then disappointed with what you pay, I started seriously looking for a gym. Near Noviciados, Malasaña, and Plaza España, there are several that look good. In fact, I've been going to a few, but if, like me, you've been to the physio a lot and you start exercising again only to end up back at another physio, you quickly realize which exercises you can't do, even if they seem simple. You need someone to be by your side, guide you, and truly care for you, and that can't be achieved by going just anywhere; holistic care is hard to find. I read the reviews on Empower and decided to give it a try. At first, €150 for the analysis seemed expensive and put me off a bit. Although, 3 physio sessions are more expensive, so I met with Pau and we had 3 sessions of analysis, questions, etc. Thinking I would stay a few months and have to go somewhere else. And honestly, I couldn't be happier with the results and money invested. Surprisingly, not only with the coaches and the process, but also with the community. No bad vibes, everyone is very approachable, polite and there are no ego problems. I came with chronic pain that I had been working on with the physiotherapist for years, and in the first month I was already able to sleep without any pain. The day-to-day routine involves booking a session and having Pau, Emilio, Andy, or Carlos ask you what you're up to today (they plan your workouts and monitor your progress throughout the week and month). If you don't know any of them, they will teach you and monitor you so that you do them correctly and/or without pain/problems, adjust them if you have any discomfort, and explain the reason for the exercise and what they are trying to achieve with them throughout the month and according to your goals (not all of us are injured, many people follow the method they use). At the gym, you'll never see more than 8 people per hour, and it's usually 3 or 4 people, each doing something different. There's plenty of equipment. I mention the method because it is comprehensive and progressive. They're not going to force you to do squats if you have lower back pain on the first day. They're going to analyze all the areas with imbalances, weaknesses, lack of range, and little by little, you'll get to do that squat with weight without pain (as in my case). During the sessions, you have to provide feedback on the app they use so it can be taken into account in the next session, and their responses are very quick. Every month you have a session with your personal trainer, in addition to the rest, where your progress over the month will be reviewed and your response to certain exercises will be taken into account (they always have an alternative for those that are more tedious for us), as well as Diet, Sleep, Fatigue, Stress, etc. And, it's not just that they take care of you physically, but your diet is monitored. Right now, Melissa is doing consultations as a dietitian, but Emilio is a doctor, and when he's not on call, we fill him with questions. The rest also have training in that area. In fact, we have workshops where certain areas are covered in depth, whether it be calories, macros, pain, etc. I am very happy with them, every day I go with enthusiasm (which has never happened to me before) and I have grown very fond of them. Otherwise I won't write such a long review. Thanks to them, I've realized that being physically healthy can't be something you do halfway or with YouTube videos, but rather a long-term investment. When I joined EmPawer nearly three years ago I was unfit and anaemic. My coach developed a long term plan based on my objectives which motivated me to increase my weekly sessions from two to four. What I value most is the adjustments to the sessions, based on my comments, so they address my long term goals but also catering to my aches and pains. Going to the gym has become a very pleasant experience that gives me a sense of fulfillment and has not only made me fitter and stronger but also helps me combat stress. I'm not a big fan of gyms, but after trying many, I can confirm that Empawer is a special gym, where you feel like you're part of a family. The training is completely personalized and varies daily to suit your needs. The coaches in the room constantly review your exercise technique. You also have monthly check-ins where you talk with your coach about your training, rest, nutrition, and the progress of your measurements... in short, a follow-up that goes beyond the workout itself and where you notice results immediately. They're also very flexible with their schedule, so you can vary the time you train or the number of workouts you do per week; it's all up to you based on the time you can dedicate. Another thing they really work on is organizing workshops or activities to learn and build a community at the gym, where the atmosphere is very friendly. I don't know of any other place that offers the service they provide: a personalized and super-detailed training plan, monthly follow-up, unbalanced measurements, and constant feedback. They're always very attentive and try to get the best out of you. The gym also has a great atmosphere. I currently go in person, but they adapt to remote training when you can't make it.
